About Lac Leman Organization Research Group

The Lac Leman Organization Research Group (LL'ORG) was created in 2003 by Human Resource Group (HEC Geneva) and Imagination Lab (www.imagilab.org) to bring together organizational researchers living and/or working in the region of Lake Leman, Switzerland. Soon after the first meeting in October 2003, LL'ORG expanded to include "virtual" members from across Europe and Northern America. Meetings take place on a monthly basis in Geneva or Lausanne.

The objective of LL'ORG is to promote the exchange of knowledge and ideas among researchers coming from multiple disciplines, such as anthropology, finance, marketing, organizational behaviour, philosophy, and strategic management. The first two years (2003-2005) were focused on studying identity from multiple levels of analysis and from different perspectives. In year 2006 the variety of topics reflected diverse interest subgroups. Some of the topics were art in management, mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, entrepreneurship and social responsibility. Last year's meetings were mainly focused around our key research interests such as social networks, identity, restructuring, mergers & acquisitions.

Moreover, several papers and research projects have emerged as a result of our discussions. In July 2005, we were responsible for a track on identity at the EGOS conference in Berlin. In August 2005, we presented a symposium on "Organizational identity and organizational culture: what is the difference?" at the Academy of Management Annual Meeting in Honolulu. In May 2006, we presented our research on cultural integration at the EURAM Annual Conference in Oslo. In May 2008, we organized the track “The process of building a shared identity“ at the EURAM Annual Conference in Ljubljana & Bled.

Thus the aim of LL’ORG is to provide a space for exchanging ideas as well as developing concrete projects. We plan to encourage cooperation through interest subgroups that will enhance both individual and joint research projects. We also hope to increase involvement of our virtual members.

LL'ORG is currently led by Prof. Susan Schneider and coordinated by Güldem Karamustafa, Dr. Sowon Kim, and Dr. Anna Lupina-Wegener.
